SFIT was created after a successful pilot program at Waterford Country School. The program will look at strengthening families experiencing a crisis in the home. It is designed as a two week family program. Admittance into SFIT begins with a DCF Social Worker making the referral within the worker’s DCF Office. Once a family is referred to SFIT by DCF, the family commits to three therapy sessions for each of the two weeks. The child will reside at Waterford Country School for up to two weeks but no longer. The child is then reunited with the family with in-home services put into place.
